Did Satchel Paige Write this? Or steal part of it?

Work like you don’t need the money,
Love like you’ve never been hurt,
Dance like nobody’s watching,
Sing like nobody’s listening,
Live like it’s heaven on earth.

“…those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

How many times have we each done the wrong thing, even though we knew we had done them before? We get trapped repeating our mistakes often. But when we learn from them, sometimes we repeat out successes!

Digital Video Movie Making

November 20, 2007 by abncparties

I don’t know about others, but I am having a blast uploading videos onto YouTube and other sites.  I have two YouTubes, one personal, and one for my wife’s Web business. I even put videos on her blog.

When the digital photo revolution started, I moved slowly to join.  But when I saw what was available in combining the photos with the help of a computer, adding music, titles, effects, etc. and turning them into movies, I was amazed!

I started doing it just for fun.  When we took a trip, I made a slide show and gave it to fellow travelers.  If we were at a party and I took a lot of shots, I made a slide show.  I gathered shots of family, friends, and gave them slide shows.  I bought a new camera and took shots at a company event and Christmas party and made a slide show and loaded it onto the network.

Then I started converting old VHS tapes to digital, then old 8mm film.  I made a movie for my sister of some of my footage of our parents (deceased) as well as a family picnic.  I showed it to a cousin, who asked me to put holiday presents together for her last year. We jointly discovered the only known movie footage of my grandfather from 1940!

It is a labor of love for me.  I rejoice when I hear how people reacted, how tears came to their eyes. I am most happy to share experiences and know-how.  In fact just today I contacted local libraries to do presentations.  My wife and I started doing this years ago for her business.

Brown Anole

November 14, 2007 by abncparties

I found this is in Wikipedia -

“The Brown Anole (also called Bahaman Anole in many pet stores) is a slender lizard reaching about 18cm in length. Males and females differ somewhat in coloration: males have a dark stripe down their backs, females a light stripe. The mature males weigh about twice that of females. As in other anoles, the male has a brightly colored throat fan, called a dewlap, which is yellow or reddish-orange. They are territorial and the dewlap is used in territorial displays. Anoles have expanded toe pads that allow them to cling to smooth surfaces.”

grand-bahamas1.jpgThis shot was taken in Grand Cayman 9/6/07. I took several shots before the territorial signaling throat extension was captured. In fact, I thought I did not capture it until I reviewed the pictures later.
